Blog Post #1: A Sound Philosophy…

Posted by:

Welcome to blog post #1 of the new Bay Area Sound web site!  We’ve tried to capture the passion, expertise, creativity and craziness over the past 20+ years of doing great projects for exceptional clients in the entertainment industry.  Our goal with this site is to give you a sense of what we do, how and why we do it and what we can do for you in the universe of sound.

Our philosophy might be summarized by something simple a very wise man once said: “Attention to trifles makes for perfection, and perfection is no trifle…”

So whether we provide the Full Audio Package, blending sound, music and voice into a single masterpiece, or just create an integral piece from something as small as throwing condom-covered microphones into the Pacific ocean to create the perfect Monkey Island ambience, contracting  an international team to create an expanded live orchestral suite of themes for the finale of Tales from the Borderlands, or bringing the characters Lee, Kenny and Clementine to life in the Walking Dead through voice direction, we bring the same attention to trifles, or passion for nuance that allows the finished product to blend into an (often) award winning sonic orchestra.

And while our clients are all in the creative field, we understand there there is a necessary business element to what we do—reliability, unmatched speed, unrelenting quality (the search for perfection), budget considerations, technical constraints and unique process needs–which all require the same ruthless focus on getting it right.

If you look at our credits, from Walking Dead, The Wolf Among Us, Tales from the Borderlands and Game of Thrones to Star Wars, Back to The Future, Jurassic Park, Firewatch, or Batman—or even a year’s worth of eSurance TV spots—you can see the depth and breadth of our experience. If you take a listen to our demos, we hope the passion, expertise, creativity and where needed, “a touch of insanity” comes through!

Check back from time to time. We will be adding new thoughts on audio production, historical items or just fun sounds, music and voice clips. And if our work inspires you (for good or evil) drop us a line. We’d love to hear what you’re working on!
